Fabio Wibmer has already made a name for himself beyond the scene with stunning videos of his fast Mountain biking, For the latest Teufel campaign, we managed to win Fabio for a video shoot in Berlin. And this shoot was a completely new challenge for everyone, at least not because of Corona. We asked Fabio how he experienced the shooting days and what are his plans post the lockdown.

City Beats: Videos on YouTube

For the current campaign, we accompanied Fabio on his bike via Berlin. The charismatic professional athlete turned the streets of Berlin into his freeride playground. Of course, with sound support from Teufel.

Blog Team: Fabio, as an Innsbrucker who’s actually already on the road constantly, you were one of the first to face the restrictions that started almost a year ago. How did you feel this time?

Fabio: The last lockdown, which began shortly before Christmas 2020, affected me comparatively little. Because I broke my ankle some time ago in the south of France, I had to focus on my recovery. So travel and projects were put on hold for a while and I was really particularly busy with recovery.

Blog Team: What was the biggest challenge for you last year?

Fabio: Overall, the last year was certainly associated with many restrictions and challenges. Many projects had to be brought forward or rescheduled, with international projects moving to Europe. Large trips were practically impossible. But I have to say that I am very happy with what we were able to realize last year. First and foremost, of course, my home office video, which was shot only on my Innsbruck lot during the lockdown. But there were also a number of smaller projects or short trips, for example, shooting with Teufel in Berlin. That’s why we’ve made it a lot better.

Blog Team: Let’s move on to The Beat of the City video shoot in Berlin with Teufel. When one sees this video for the first time, they might not realize that it has been shot in such a difficult time. How can it be successful?

It was really a challenge to make the video conform to Corona. The fact that it is not noticeable at first glance is mainly thanks to the good cooperation between my team and the Tufel team (Fabio Wibmer on filming).

Fabio: It was really a challenge to make the video conform to Corona. The fact that this is not noticeable at first glance is mainly thanks to the good cooperation between my team and the Tufel team, who took care of the implementation. The detailed preparation of the shoot was extremely important. Flexibility in the selection of dates was also certainly a major advantage. This was certainly the biggest challenge: finding a time that allowed many people to come together, for example the beatboxer scene or the final scene on the roof.

down on the front wheel

Blog Team: Which stunt was the funniest during the video shoot?

Fabio: It’s hard to say which one thing was good. The entire shoot was very cool and fun. Looking at the more technical lines, I’m glad everything is working out so well. Then there was the scene with the steep ledge, which I only partially rode on the front wheel. Getting there was probably the hardest part of the shoot. I really slipped every time *laughs*,

Blog Team: If you had a free choice of places in Berlin, where would you like to ride your mountain bike?

Fabio: I’ve biked in Berlin several times before and still don’t know about all the places. So it is very difficult for me to choose any one. The mix of modern and historic venues offers great facilities for trial biking. I really want to come back again and go on a long exploration trip.

music that moves you

Blog Team: Do you have any songs/albums/artists that have come up with you in the past year or so that you may have just discovered for yourself? Which concert would you first like to attend again?

Fabio: Last year I listened to skate punk and punk rock again, for example, Blink-182 or The Offspring. So it’s like rediscovering old favorites. I would really like to go to a rock and punk rock concert again and actually party. Offspring is currently releasing a new album – with a lot of luck, there will be a tour as well. If the pandemic allows it.

Blog Team: I am sure you – like all of us – are waiting for the lockdown to end completely. Do you already have a plan for what you will do then? For example, where can we see you living again?

Fabio: I have a few video projects in the pipeline that I’m really looking forward to. By then I will be fully fit again. All that was missing were live events where I could meet my fans. I hope this will be possible soon. Events such as Crankworx Innsbruck or one or another film premiere.

that feeling of making it

Blog Team: city beat The motto of our joint campaign. Which songs do you associate with Berlin or the shooting days of Teufel in Berlin?

Fabio: In fact, I somehow associate “Young Thugs, 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa and PnB Rock – Gang Up”. [note: the song can be found on the playlist] Most of all with the Berlin shoot. We heard the song after we shot the last shot at Potsdamer Platz and got the feeling of making it.

Blog Team: We thank you for the interview and wish you all the best for your accident free stunts.
